ASP.NET Design Center on MSDN
2005 - design the look and feel and produce the XHTML & CSS for 4 pages that will be extended by Microsoft to create the new ASP.NET Design Center on MSDN.
human factors
build for 1024x768 monitors, make it fast loading, teach CSS on line through CSS learning tool, mindful of "above the fold" placement of content
marketing
create a site on MSDN that designers will respect, ASP.NET 2.0 is looking to convert designers from Dreamweaver to Visual Web Developer, make it fully XHTML strict, create a feature that entry level or mid level designers will use, this feature has become the CSS Learning Tool (last screen shot below)
technology
Photoshop, Illustrator, XHTML, CSS, AJAX (for the CSS learning tool)
aeSthetics
"light" feel that doesn't draw from the MSDN chrome around it but also does not compete with it, use many different fonts for different purposes (Verdana in caps for small text, Trebuchet for body text and the site headline, "popGod" font for the logo, and the narrower Tahoma for h1, h2 and h3 tags)
